Data centers have changed Loudoun County. I believe it is time to make sure they are accountable to the residents who lives they impact.

My Approach: Six Priorities for Responsible Data Center Growth

Accountability, not a blank check.

Loudoun County has become one of the most important data center markets in the world. That growth has generated significant tax revenue, but it has also created serious concerns about land use, electricity demand, transmission lines, noise, water, environmental impacts, the character of our communities, and many more.

Data centers should not get a blank check to shape Loudoun’s future. Residents deserve a government that asks tough questions, negotiates strongly, and ensures that data centers directly benefits the people of Loudoun County.

BALANCING GROWTH WITH COMMUNITY VALUES

Protect Neighborhoods

As the county has continued to expand, data centers have started to encroach on residential land. To protect our neighborhoods, we need stricter enforcement of noise ordinances, bigger setbacks, noise barriers, and an end to limitless data center construction

The best way to both ensure that data center growth is slowed, and that they benefit local residents, is to increase taxes on data centers. In contrast to the current board that has been lowering taxes on data centers, Jon will push to raise taxes on data centers from $4.15 to $6.15.

Make Data Centers Pay Their Fair Share

Slow Down & Review What Has Already Been Approved

I will institute a review of all projects already approved, and use all tools available to local government to ensure these projects do not harm residents quality of life. In addition to projects already approved, I will put an end to the unconstrained expansion of data centers throughout the county

It is essential that the power buildout for local data centers does not negatively impact local residents. I am pushing for a public utility, underground power lines around residential areas, and having data centers foot the bill for their own power.

Address Power and Infrastructure Impacts

The nonstop expansion of data centers in Loudoun has not done enough to benefit residents. I am pushing for universal Pre-K, the elimination of PRCS usage fees, more affordable housing and much more. We can do all of this without having to raise taxes on locals.
